“This is why I tell you: Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn't life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the sky: They don’t sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you worth more than they? Can any of you add a single cubit to his height by worrying? ... Matt. 6:25-34
Today, where we live, we lost our water. The church building and the house we live in are on a well. You can imagine that it is a little frustrating to turn on the tap and nothing comes out. I had to call the pump company to come out to examine the pump system and at that point it was out of my hands. There was nothing I could do or say that would help and just had to stand there. The feeling of helplessness just comes over you at those times.
We all have these times in life. All that we can do about our life circumstances have been tried and still we haven't gotten rid of the problem. Jesus shows us here in the text above that God's children are the most important thing to Him. Birds and animals don't need to worry about their circumstances in life, they just need to do what God created them to do day by day. It seem so simple and we don't expect anymore from them. Jesus Christ doesn't expect anymore from them either. So as the Scripture tells us, how much more should we be doing the same thing? As I called the pump company we need to do our part in each days affairs but just as when the pump company got here we need to get out of the way and let God take care of what we can't. We worry when we decide to try to do the Lord's job and not stick to our part in life.
